Delicious Savory Sausage Potato Bake With Cream Cheese

Do you love the taste of perfectly baked potatoes and brat sausages? Well in this recipe the two worlds collide in a delicious savory sausage potato bake with cream cheese and green peppers. This dish will send your taste buds into maximum overdrive and it is relatively simple to make.

Delicious Sausage Potato Bake With Cream Cheese & Green Bell Pepper

A delicious mouthwatering bratwurst sausage dish fused with seasoned sliced baked potatoes, cream cheese, and diced green bell pepper.

  • 2 cups chopped onions
  • 1 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 2 sticks salted butter
  • 4 to 6 sliced potatoes
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp seasoned salt
  • 4 bratwurst sausages (whole or sliced)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

The First Steps

First, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, lay 4 brat sausages along the middle of the baking dish leaving a space in between them. Also, you can chop up the sausages if you’d like, but we eat ours on buns so this is optional.

Begin slicing up the potatoes. 4 to 6 potatoes should do depending on the size of them. Rinse the potatoes, and layer the slices all along the baking dish surrounding the sausages.

Soften Cream Cheese & Butter

Soften the cream cheese & butter by warming each of them on low for a few seconds in the microwave.

Alternatively, you can break up the cream cheese and place it in your dish evenly and lay the sticks of butter on top. Either way the butter and cream cheese will get melted in the oven.

Add Seasoned Salt

Next, sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of seasoned salt all over potatoes. The potatoes will absorb this flavor and it will really make the dish savory and delicious. Combined with the butter, cream cheese, peppers, and onions, this sausage potato bake is off the chain good.

Place Your Sausage Potato Bake In The Oven For 30 Minutes

Afterwards, place the baking dish into the oven for around 30 minutes. Remove the dish after 30 minutes and stir everything around. This gives each ingredient a chance to integrate well and take in as much flavor as possible. (There is a ton of flavor!)

Place the baking dish back into the oven for an additional 30 minutes or until the potatoes are soft and browned. Also, make sure the brats reach an internal temperature of 152 degrees Fahrenheit and are cooked to completion.

You are now ready to serve and there are multiple ways to do this! Add the flavorful sausages on a bun with potatoes on the side or chop up the sausage and serve it mixed with the potatoes.

  1. This is quite easy to make because I really don’t like spending all my time in the kitchen, especially first thing in the morning. Sausage and potatoes is a classic combo that’s perfect for breakfast. Having a hot breakfast ready in no time – A must any morning!

Serve it with some eggs, pancakes, or breakfast biscuits, and you’re really cooking!

    1. Yes definitely! This is quite an easy recipe and so delicious and flavorful. It would make the perfect breakfast dish as well as a dinner. Potatoes and sausage go so classically together! Thanks for reading and I hope you get a chance to try it soon!

  2. What a great recipe.
I have been a fan of potato bake for a while and found this post very useful.
Thank you. Do you have recipes for vegan?
Perhaps replacing cheese and sausage with something else?

    1. I am glad you enjoyed the recipe! You could definitely do a vegan version of this! I will be sure to add more vegan dishes to my collection. I suggest replacing the sausage with Field Roast apple sage grain sausage that is vegan friendly. You can also replace the cream cheese with almond paste, or avocado with vegan spread. This would also take place of the butter. I hope you still get a chance to enjoy! Thank you for reading and bringing this to my attention!

  3. Hi there and thanks so much for this great recipe!
We’re stuck in stage four restrictions here in Melbourne and cooking delicious foods is the only thing keeping me and my kids sane(and fat).
We’ll be trying this tomorrow for lunch
    🙂

    1. These restrictions have many of us resorting to cooking and crafting for entertainment. I am glad you will get to enjoy this recipe at least even if it is under difficult circumstance. All the best to you and your family! I hope you enjoy!

  4. Mouthwatering dish, indeed. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I tried something similar before, but instead of sausage, it had bacon in it, and I think cream instead of cheese. In any case, I’ll give it a try, looks delicious!

    1. I have never had this dish with bacon and now that you mention it, that sounds delicious! I really must give that a try. Thank you for giving my recipe a read!

  7. Hi Shyla,

I’m not going to lie, but even repeating your title, “Delicious Savoury Sausage Potato Bake With Cream Cheese” over-and-over again is making my mouth water and my stomach rumble.

I mean, how many beautiful and delectable words can you actually fit into one sentence, LOL?

Admittedly, you had me sold before I even got to the recipe. as I am a huge fan of sausages.

I’ve even been lucky enough to visit Dusseldorf, Germany at Christmas, and I’m not going to lie, I devoured at least 8 HUGE Bratwurst sausages over the course of one weekend.

Shyla, you’ve definitely got a fan in me. I’m off to buy the ingredients as we speak and can’t wait to try this out.

    1. I am so glad you got a chance to take a look at this recipe! I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does, but from the looks of it you definitely will! I am jealous that you got to go to Germany to try some authentic dishes. Maybe someday I will as well. It’s on the bucket list! Thanks for stopping by!

  8. I am so glad this dish could inspire a great memory from your childhood! You can do many variations with the meat. In fact you could substitute veggie bacon in place of the sausage to avoid meat altogether! I also would recommend vegan breakfast sausage that is made of seasoned mushrooms. These substitutes are just as delicious as any meat product! Thank you for stopping by to read!

  9. This looks like something my family would gobble up. In fact, it looks like a version of one of our regular dinners but done in a single dish, which is always nice because it means washing fewer dishes. I will have to give this a try. Looks like a great quick and easy meal option.
